Professor Michael Newton is an expert on terrorism, accountability, transnational justice, and conduct of hostilities issues. He will share his experiences as one of the first Western experts to document the crimes committed by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). He will discuss the crimes committed, the mechanisms for investigating and prosecuting ISIS atrocity crimes, the substantive law at issue in these cases, and the swirl of politics surrounding international investigations.
