Championship Counsel: A Dialogue with Richard Thigpen and Bill Powers

Description: | Wake Forest Law's Sports and Entertainment Law Society welcomes the current General Counsel for the Carolina Panthers, Richard Thigpen, and the former President of the University of Texas, Bill Powers. Thigpen received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and his law degree from Campbell University. He has served as the GC for the Panthers for nearly two decades. Powers received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkley before graduating magna cum laude from Harvard Law, where he was the managing editor of the Harvard Law Review. He served on the committee that formed the BCS, and his service on the BCS Presidential Oversight Committee led to the national championship playoff system for college football. Thigpen and Powers will provide their views on the legal industry and the role it plays in both professional and college football. Refreshments will be provided.
