Faith & Justice Society: Justice and Culture Throughout History

Date: Monday, March 21, 2016
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Description: The second meeting of the Faith & Justice Society will be a fascinating conversation about justice and culture throughout history, including topics like Hammurabi's Code, the Hebrew Bible and the use of these texts in American judicial opinions. For this conversation we will be joined by Neal Walls, associate professor of Old Testament Interpretation at the Wake Forest School of Divinity. Walls is a scholar of the Hebrew Bible and the Ancient Near East, with a focus on myth and an anthropological bent. Some of his most popular classes include Africa and the Bible, Myth and Scripture and Literary Classics of World Religions. He has led students on pilgrimages and travel programs across the globe, to countries such as Israel, Egypt, South Africa and India, and will soon be leading a trip to Ethiopia, where indigenous Christian communities have thrived since the fourth century.
