Yom Kippur Break Fast
Date: | Saturday, October 12, 2024 |
Time: | 6:45 - 8:30 PM |
Description: |
Yom Kippur is the day of atonement in the Jewish faith. It ends our "high holiday" season, much like Easter is a culmination of religious events for Christians. On Yom Kippur, our holiest day of the year, we generally spend the day in synagogue with our families. We also do not eat or drink from sundown the day before, until sundown on Yom Kippur. When we break our fast, we have a huge celebration with our synagogue, it is very happy and normally there is a literal feast. For law students, they may chose to fast or not, according to their practices. JLSA has a tradition of hosting a break fast for our Jewish and non-Jewish fellow students. We would love for you to join us! |
