Description: "Free Joan Little! Free All Political Prisoners!": A Public Conversation featuring Genna Rae McNeil and Karen Bethea-Shields. This will be a discussion about the 1974-75 case of a young Black woman charged with the murder of a jailer. A public conversation on the history, memory, and continuing legacy of the Joan Little case and the movement it inspired featuring distinguished legal historian Genna Rae McNeil and pioneering jurist Karen Bethea-Shields. This event is sponsored by the Program in African American Studies, Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, Wake Forest School of Divinity, and the Wake Forest Innocence & Justice Clinic.
