SCJR and Art Law Society Research Workshops

Date: Saturday, October 9, 2021
Time: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Description: Society for Criminal Justice Reform (SCJR) has a partnership with Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, a local art gallery that is featuring an exhibit by Sherill Roland, an exoneree. Mr. Roland is doing an exhibit to represent the personal and societal "weight" of wrongful convictions. To this, Mr. Roland wanted as much information on every person exonerated in 2015 (the same year he was). This includes newspaper articles, trial transcripts, discovery documents, and etc.

During these workshops, students will research each person and compile the documents. SECCA and Mr. Roland will later print and use these documents for the art exhibit, which will display in the Spring. Students will receive pro bono hours for time spent completing research.
