M.E. v. T.J. Panel Discussion by OUTLaw and DVAC

Date: Thursday, October 21, 2021
Time: 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Description: Wake Law's OUTLaw and DVAC organizations have invited a panel of guests to speak about North Carolina's recent M.E. v. T.J. civil rights decision. This NC Court of Appeals decision expanded legal domestic violence protections to LGBTQ NC citizens and examined equal protection issues affecting LGBTQ people under intermediate scrutiny. At this event, we will hear from lawyers who worked on this case from the plaintiff's side at different stages and from attorneys who worked on amicus briefs supporting the case at the appellate level. We'll also hear from local DV practitioners. One of the amicus brief writers and panelists is a celebrated Wake Law graduate and a former Wake Law OUTLaw President, Sarah Saint.
